Genestealer Cult Neophyte Hybrids

I don't usually like to brag, but this time I think I've really excelled myself. I couldn't be happier with how the first finished models from my new Genestealer Cult force look. I really wanted to get a rugged weathered look, but also something I could produce at a reasonable pace as the force will be very infantry heavy. In the end I settled on an industrial grey with plenty of dirt and the classic addition of some yellow/black hazard striping.

Anyway, that's enough talk for the minute - I'll add more pictures below.

Stay tuned for more of the force soon, and don't forget to follow the blog or leave a comment if you like what you see.

  1. I think they look great. The yellow and blue work as a great accent color as well.

    1. Thanks. I had originally planned to have more purple in the scheme, but it just didn't work in practice - It seemed to take away from the yellow and orange/dirt, so in the end I used a bit of purple in the skin tones and left it at that - I still need to work out what to do with the actual Genestealers though...

  2. I like how dark and brooding they look despite the lighter colour accents. Really cool man!! I like the detail on the scalp of the first guy too.

    1. Thanks. I was really happy with that guy too. The cool part is that the skin tone isn't that complicated - rakarth flesh, wash with Agrax, highlight with Rakarth flesh again and then a final sharp highlight of Pallid Wych Flesh. I then did the spots with a little Druchii violet to get a bit of purple in there. Rakarth Flesh might be my favourite paint ever!

    2. Nice man, I actually think I have that colour too. Looks great anyway and I like the use of the wash to gently apply the markings as opposed to using a more solid paint and making them look too heavy.

Would have been nice to have seen the studio do a more subtle set of markings on the Aborrants and Metamorphs in the codex.

    1. I'll admit that I was the same - I still wasn't sure I wanted to start the force till I opened the first box and saw how nice they are. I have no regrets now that they're painted. I'm planning a little campaign for them too Vs some mechanics stuff, like a forge world in rebellion, so that should give me a little time to build and play as I go.

  5. Excellent! I've got some other projects I'm working on right now, but it's really hard for me to resist diving into Stealer Cult face first. And yeah, Rakarth Flesh is great for stuff like this.

    1. Yeah, I have to admit that I probably don't need another project, but right now I'm loving these models.

  7. Hmm, those are some pretty nice cultists, it's a shame they will be ground into a fine paste by the invulnerable might of my Skitarii legions! Oh yeah! Blog smack talk right here!

    1. You probably shouldn't have given me those Genestealers if you wanted a chance at winning! Take a look around, 'cos I rule baby!

    1. I haven't done a painting guide yet, but I might in the future. It would take me a long time to put together though, so I'm not promising anything.
