Genestealer Cult Sentinel

Another productive weekend. I've finished my Sentinel in record time (about 3 hours of painting time in total!). I tried to make the scheme as fast as possible and optimise it, but things are really coming together at the moment and miniatures seem to be soaring off of the production line at a good pace. I also did the basecoats and bases on the 9 remaining Neophytes, so I should get some of them done this week too.

Painting wise, I'm not sure if I'm overdoing the weathering a bit on the vehicles, but they do look great mixed in with the troops. I have some kind of image in my mind of them being secretly stored in mining tunnels and under dusty Manufactorums accumulating dust for years before the revolution starts! It's a bit fanciful, but for some reason the imagery is quite strong in my mind and I've gone with it.

  1. Nice one! The only thing that grates a little bit to my eye is the vertical hazard stripes, but that's a minor point in the grand scheme of things, the whole thing works very well - would love to see some pics in with the neophytes too!

    1. I might do some group showcasemail shots soon. I keep thinking i'll do it when I finish "the next unit", but then I move on to something else!

  2. Lovely work, nice bright colours to tie in with rest of force spot colours.

    1. Thanks. The force is really coming together - that 1000 points of finished models is tantalisingly close now...

  4. It isn't that complicated to do and I really blast the bases out, but you do need an airbrush. I might do a quick tutorial at some point.

    1. A year or two ago I wouldn't have thought it was possible (my Emperor's Children scheme takes about 3 hours a marine). I've been working on a lot of techniques to speed up my painting and it seems to have worked!

  6. Hi! The whole cultist range youve done looks amazing! May I ask how you do the bases/osl on the minis? Is it airbrushed on to the minis? And which red color do you use?

    Cheers!

    1. Sorry it took me a few days to reply, I had to look the scheme up (I keep them all written down). For all of the cult models, I batched the bases and then stuck the models on them. I used the airbrush with Vallejo paints in this order: Bloody Red (basecoat), Orange Fire, Hot Orange. Then with the regular brush, wash with GW Khorne Red. Finally, drybrush with 50/50 Rakarth Flesh/Hot Orange. It sounds like a lot of colours, but it doesn't take long if you're batching them. You could do it all with a regular brush too as I haven't used the airbrush for anything fancy.
